"At their best, traditional teaching methods provide the student with a certain mastery over the subject of each class. Critical thinking skills, on the other hand give the student a framework for understanding and evaluating any subject he may encounter in life, even those not covered in his course work. Cambridge Study Center stresses the development of critical thinking skills based on biblical presuppositions, because we believe that education is not a stage of life but rather a way of life."

His class, Thoughts Captive, is an interdisciplinary study of Literature and the Arts, Cultural Apologetics, Theology, Philosophy and History. He has lectured on the interpretation of film at The Christian Study Center at the University of Florida in Gainesville. In the community he teaches the class The Christian Mind & Culture and has led "The Forum," a weekly seminar for business men and women studying the intersection of faith, vocation and culture. He also serves as headmaster of Berean Academy in Tampa and is the owner of Bruce Kirby Consulting. In his spare time he enjoys reading, golf, fishing and the beach. He loves fine films and enjoys watching football and basketball. Bruce and his wife Janie live in Redington Shores. They have three grown children and six wonderful grandchildren.

"Cambridge is not a traditional school but a private Christian study center that teaches teenagers and adults that rigorous learning and rigorous faith are compatible. We believe that truth is not fractured into different spheres, as if something might be true in science and false in religion," Kirby says. He further explains the mission and goals of Cambridge: "Cambridge Study Center plays a key educational role in our community. Our primary goal is to provide Christian leadership for our world by offering culture-engaging educational options for high school, college and adult students. Together we seek to understand the importance of ideas and their significance for all that happens in the world. The study center believes that the obedient Christian seeks to transform the world by their godly participation in each sphere of culture."

"As Christians we are commanded to engage the culture in which we live. This requires that we study the culture, rather than retreat into isolation which seems to be the inclination of today's church. Cambridge Study Center students are taught to understand, yet not embrace non-Christian worldviews. Consequently Cambridge students are well equipped to communicate and defend Biblical truth."
