March 2002
Dear Cambridge Family,
Two of
our Cambridge students have been accepted recently as students at the
Harrison School of the Arts in Lakeland. Stephanie Short
has been accepted as an orchestra student. Stephanie recently won a
superior rating for harp at the Federation of Music Clubs competition.
Also accepted at Harrison is Cambridge student Daniel Doohan.
Daniel will join part time Cambridge student Dellynne
Strawbridge in the drama program at Harrison. Our
congratulations to both Stephanie and Daniel!
Cambridge student Josiah Armes has been invited to play
at a Master Class at the National Convention of the American Guild of
Organists. The convention will be in Philadelphia, July 2 thru 6,
2002. Josiah was invited to perform after winning an essay contest
sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. Josiah also was one
of twelve organists to perform recently at the American Guild of
Organists' Bach Bash III. In addition to attending Cambridge classes,
Josiah studies organ at Stetson University. Please keep him in your
prayers.
Congratulations to Cambridge fine arts instructor, Cannon
Kirby and student Karis Medina for being
selected to exhibit their work at the Melvin Gallery of Florida
Southern College. Cannon is the fine arts instructor at the study
center and Karis is one of his first year students.
The photos of Cambridge art students Christie Bell,
Jeremy Thrush and Michelle Schaefer
are now on display at the Creative Youth 2002 exhibit
at the Polk Museum of Art. Their photos were selected from artwork
submitted by high school students from eight central Florida
counties. Another of Cannon's popular Introduction to
Photography classes begins next week. Some space is still available.
Call Cannon at the study center (327-3159) for more information.

students will be driving down from Covenant College to attend. While
in Gainesville, Bruce also will be meeting with Dr. Richard
Horner, director of the Christian Study Center.

the John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men. Students

We have some great financial news! The
$10,000 Challenge Grant was met for
January/February. Thank you to all who participated. The next $10,000
challenge is for March/April. We are still about $4000 short of that
goal. These funds must be raised by April 30 to receive the matching
dollars. Checks can be mailed to the study center or donations can be
made by credit card from the Donations page of the Cambridge
website. You also may use the donations link at the end of this
eBridge.
There is more financial news! The study
center has received a $10,000 grant from an anonymous donor through
the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland. We also
have received a $1500 grant for scholarships from Publix
Supermarkets Charities. We are thankful for God's blessing
through his people in the central Florida community!
While living in this troubled world,
the cross, the empty tomb and the promised return of Christ are the
believer's assurance of future grace. But these events don't
exempt the believer from present responsibilities. Rather, the cross
the empty tomb and the return of Christ underline the
believer's present responsibility to worship the Creator/God with
heart, soul and mind. Bob Dylan said (sang) it like this:
Surrender your crown on this
blood-stained ground, take off your mask,
He sees your deeds, He knows your needs even before you ask.
How long can you falsify and deny what is real?
How long can you hate yourself for the weakness you conceal?
Of every earthly plan that be known to man, He is unconcerned,
He's got plans of His own to set up His throne
When He returns.
We wish
you a glorious Easter as we give thanks for a risen and returning
Savior!
